Managed by the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, 'the Blue', as it is commonly referred to, is approx. 20 miles south of Alpine and is one of Arizona's least touched and unknown areas.

A combination of factors makes the Blue a unique and special place. Because of the incredible elevation range from 5,000 to 9,000 feet, it offers a huge variety of terrain, vegetation, and wildlife viewing opportunities. This vast expanse of pristine wilderness is located along the major geological formation known as the Mogollon Rim, and can only be accessed on foot or by horseback.

The Downs' Ranch Hideaway is one of only a handful of private properties located within this primitive area. A lifetime in this area assures that your guides have all of the knowledge and skill necessary to share with you this breathtaking land of rugged mountains, steep canyons and intense beauty.

Safety is a top priority and our horses are familiar with the terrain, well trained and suited for all levels of riders. You also have the option of bringing one of your trail savvy animals to share the experience with. Some conditions do apply.
