Yoga for Equestrians
Thursday, July 9th 9:00 to 12:00 $30 There are some amazing similarities between the practice of yoga and the art of horsemanship. Yoga is a system of exercises created to help merge all aspects of ourselves; mind, body and spirit. When we explore these relationships within ourselves we also develop the skills that are necessary for improving communication with our horse. Both yoga and riding are based upon awareness, balance and breathing in rhythm to movement. By learning some basic breathing and stretching exercises riders of all levels and disciplines can greatly improve and enhance their horsemanship skills. The workshop will begin by exploring the similarities of yoga and riding - including how vital our breathing is and how yoga can improve balance, flexibility and awareness. After learning some helpful breathing exercises we will move into focused stretching - which is the basis of yoga! Yoga feels good (we all know how good it feels to stretch) and energizes our bodies and minds. We will practice several poses (also called asanas) and discuss ways to integrate yoga into your riding program. The cost for this workshop is $30 and we look forward to having you join us for a fun and relaxing day meeting new friends and learning a different approach to the art of good horsemanship!
